Hola. I'm Armando Calderón.

“I like working with the Careyes Foundation because it offers children and adults knowledge and new experiences in the communities where it works, and because I can share moments and exchange knowledge with very wise people”.

About Me

I am responsible for the field operations of the Foundation. In addition to managing vehicle and building maintenance, I coordinates our hurricane prevention and response efforts, including preparing emergency shelters and maintaining emergency equipment in local schools. I also help with the logistics for Foundation events and assists in activities at the Sea Turtle Protection and Conservation Center. I joined the team in August 2022 and I'm orginally from San Blas, Nayarit. I studied marine biology at the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa. I have also worked in conservation, ecosystem monitoring, and restoration in marine and terrestrial environments, and have six years of experience in productive aquaculture systems. I enjoy playing bass and guitar, as well as exploring new places to learn about biodiversity and experience new cultures.
