Opportunities for creativity
Following our Beyond Borders curriculum, every English lesson that we teach to our primary school students incorporates some type of artistic activity. The children invariably look forward to these activities, so they are always eager to participate in their English classes! We begin most lessons with a song, often accompanied by movements to help the students learn the words and their meanings. In our classes, the students have drawn self portraits, pictures of their homes and families, and examples of school rules, and have also made projects they can take home, such as puppets and miniature books. Because we believe that it is important for children to have opportunities to express themselves creatively and these schools do not have formal art programs, we are proud that our English program gives the students a creative outlet!
