Cinema and Community Night with Miguel Hidalgo Viejo

Continuing our sea turtle educational series

On December 8, we invited children from the village of Miguel Hidalgo Viejo to the third installment in our sea turtle educational series. For this event, our resident biologist Alejandro Peña discussed how the sea turtle nesting process is impacted by animal and human predators. The film screened, A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventures, follows sea turtle characters as they overcome the challenges of global warming, pollution, and being captured by humans.

The children were happy to spend the evening experiencing Careyes and learning about how the area in which they live plays an important role in sea turtle conservation.
