This month we began our new series of educational movie screenings with the children from Pérula. Before the film, Rebeca Martinez, a chef at a Careyes restaurant La Coscolina, came to speak to the children on her experience of becoming a chef and what it is like to now be a chef. She spoke about how her interest in cooking began as a young girl, about all the things a chef is responsible for in the kitchen other than actually cooking, and about her schooling. Then we screened the film “Ratatouille,” which the children absolutely adored! The children left cheery and thinking about the career they may want to grow up to have, chef or other, and about how they are going to achieve their goals.
