Climate and Conservation Series

On March 9, students from the high school in the village of Miguel Hidalgo embarked on their third phase of a climate change and conservation series: camping! Nine high school students, two primary school students, and three teachers arrived at Playa Teopa for hands-on learning about species conservation and climate change. Students cleaned out sea turtle nests, recorded metrics, patrolled the beach for nesting turtles, and released hatchlings into the ocean. Prior to the camping event, resident biologist Alejandro Peña provided two environmental lectures in the high school on February 27 and March 6.
