Summer Camp Review: A Summer of Growth with The Careyes Foundation
From July through August 2026, our Children’s English Program brought learning, creativity , and new opportunities to children across five communities.
This summer, The Careyes Foundation’s Children’s English Program created welcoming spaces where children could learn, explore their interests, and build new skills during the school break. Across July and August, our team brought hands-on workshops in English, art, robotics, and chess to communities throughout the region.
A New Beginning in Morelos
For the first time, The Careyes Foundation brought its Summer Camp to Morelos. Held from July 20 to 31, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the 10-day program received an enthusiastic response from local families.
A total of 56 students participated in workshops in English, art, robotics, and chess. The strong turnout showed the value of creating accessible learning opportunities close to home and opened the door for The Careyes Foundation to continue strengthening its presence in Morelos.
Reaching Children in Chamela and Agua Caliente Nueva
During the second-to-last week of July, the program also reached Chamela, where children joined afternoon workshops in English, art, robotics, and chess.
In the final week of July, the Summer Camp continued in Agua Caliente Nueva. The afternoon program reached full capacity, welcoming 29 students who took part in the same four learning workshops.
Listening and Learning in San Mateo
In the second week of August, the program began in San Mateo with morning sessions. While enrollment did not reach capacity, the experience highlighted an important opportunity: continuing to strengthen outreach and find new ways to connect with families in the community.
Every program provides valuable insight into how we can make our activities more accessible, relevant, and responsive to local needs.
A Full Room at Casa de la Cultura
During the third week of August, activities moved to Casa de la Cultura, bringing together children from Emiliano Zapata and Francisco Villa.
The classroom filled with 15 students, reflecting the children’s enthusiasm for having a dedicated place to learn, spend time together, develop their abilities, and feel supported. Their participation continues to inspire us to create meaningful educational spaces where every child can grow.
Looking Ahead
July and August 2026 were months of growth, learning, and connection for The Careyes Foundation. From first-time activities in Morelos to continued programming in neighboring communities, each session reaffirmed the importance of providing children with opportunities to discover, create, and build confidence.
