The objective of our Children’s English Program (CEP) is to give elementary school children of our service area a vital jumpstart in acquiring bilingual (English) skills. In the past, this children lacked of English classes until middle school, when they are already 13-14 years old, and face more obstacles in learning English as a second language.

Living in an area whose biggest source of employment is tourism, we consider it essential that the local children have the opportunity to learn english. Besides, a second language ability expands their career and higher education opportunities. As such, the Careyes Foundation joined with La Catalina Foundation to produce our Beyond Borders english curriculum, a set of customized English-Spanish workbooks and teachers book designed specifically to the educational needs for early language learners in a rural area.

Our group of english teachers follow the curriculum’s natural language learning methodology of the Beyond Borders series to deliver weekly English lessons to twelve villages providing the basis for biligualism.

We are currently welcoming volunteers to teach english
