ADAPTING OUR PROGRAMS TO THE NEW NORMAL

In the last couple of months, we've gradually but steadily, started to reactivate our different programs. We believe that we must resume activities by taking every possible action to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and resume our commitment to work with the kids and support them in their English education, as well as lifting their spirits and expression whether it's through art or music!

Regarding our English program, we've been collaborating with the state schools by adding one homework packet to their school work. The children receive a new set of activities every two weeks that aim to serve as a review of previous lessons, as well as some exercises of their current level.

Choir and guitar lessons are taking place on the outdoor terrace next to Villa's church. Teacher Pepe is recommencing classes every week, emphasizing the use of protective masks and antibacterial gel.

We're very close to open our new Centro de Capacitación in the Casa de la Cultura in the town of Emiliano Zapata. The classroom has five computers in which interested people will be able to get specific training for the profession of their choosing as well as learning how to use a computer and the internet. The online courses are part of a distance learning initiative started by Fundación Slim that offers a wide variety of subjects in different fields intending to help people discover and increase their job opportunities.

Finally, our art workshop has been quite a success! Working alongside Yair Ademar Romero Sikorski, our new artist in residence, children have been learning how to make natural pigments from different spices like Tumeric and paprika. As well as producing recycled paper to decorate with plants and flowers and painting with acrylic some of the aspects they enjoy about living in Costalegre. We're working on a winter exhibition to display the kids' art and some beautiful paintings Yair has been working on since he arrived in Careyes!

Stay tuned on our social media for any new information about the new show at the gallery and the rest of our programs. We have more eye-opening outdoor activities planned right around the corner. We're preparing to restart our community bike rides with COVID-mitigation measures in place, as well as our seasonal environmental education field trips to work with sea turtle hatchlings.
