This year’s Discovery Bike Rides got off to a great start this weekend in the community of Juan Gil! Rides there are always family affairs, and we were excited to have a teacher and her daughter, both new to the school and town, join us on this excursion. Our scenic route departed from the central square and wound through the surrounding hills, crossing several streams and passing a reservoir before leading us to a remote corral, where we rested and refueled. One of the children’s fathers was there tending to his cattle, and he helped several of the kids to take a turn on his horse. It was a fun and unexpected addition to a great morning spent enjoying the outdoors.
