Riverside Ride in Agua Caliente

Over the weekend, 30 kids, parents, and community members joined us on a beautiful bike ride in the village of Agua Caliente. It speaks to the enthusiasm for this program that it gets so many kids out of bed before 7am on a Saturday morning!

Our route wound along the banks of the river toward the coast, through farmland and groves of palms. We took a picnic break by the water, where a few boys amused themselves by catching tiny freshwater shrimp. We then ventured on through an obstacle course of mud puddles from the last week’s rain. One final climb brought us back to town–tired, mud-spattered, and exhilarated. All told, our group (which included 9-year-olds on single speed bikes) pedaled 16 kilometers!

These community bike rides are a break from the routine and show kids how much fun it can be to get outside and explore their incredible surroundings.
