Programs Paused for COVID-19

Our regular programs—English lessons, ecology and cinema field trips, community bike rides—are on hold as we practice social distancing to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus in our region. For the time being, we will focus on supporting our local communities through this global pandemic.

Our first step has been to work with the Careyes Clinic to combat misinformation and address common questions by producing a series of informational graphics that outline the essentials of COVID-19 and prevention methods. We’ve shared these materials with parents, school principals, and other community members. A dedicated page on our website also offers a variety of educational resources for families looking to stay productive and learn new things while staying safe and staying home. From composting to learning a new language to experimenting with international recipes, we’ve collected videos from across the internet and from our very own volunteers that will give kids plenty to explore.

Meanwhile, the amazing team at our Sea Turtle Protection & Conservation Center continues to patrol the Careyes beaches around the clock. Only one staff member is on duty at a given time, and visits to the sanctuary are suspended until further notice.
