José Guadalupe Jacobo Contreras

Music School Director 

Pepe is the Director of the Foundation’s Music Program and instructor for the children’s and adult choirs and guitar classes. He had his first introduction to music at the age of 12, playing guitar and piano. At 16, he began to train professionally at the Instituto Universitario de Bellas Artes in Colima, where he studied classical guitar with distinguished Italian composer Simone Iannerelli. Through more than 8 years of experience with the choir of the Universidad de Colima, he developed his vocal talent as a tenor, took courses in choral direction, participated in festivals, and served as director for several choirs. Pepe now lives in Emiliano Zapata and looks forward every day to sharing the wonders of music with the community.  In his spare time, Pepe likes to explore new places and make new friends.
