Francisco Osório

Portuguese artist Francisco Osório reflected on environmental issues and how even that which we consider “natural” has been changed by human activity. His exhibition, Limbo, featured found objects collected and painted by children from the community of Pérula in dialogue with two volcanoes of palm leaves—constructed with the help of local craftsmen using traditional methods. Through photography, installation, sculpture and painting, Osório explored various conceptions of a state of limbo, in relation to nature in its pure and corrupted forms and in the artistic process itself.

Osório has presented in individual and collective exhibitions at international galleries and institutions including: Espaço Real, Lisbon; Mono, Lisbon; Arquipélago - Center for Contemporary Art, São Miguel, Azores; Plantea Estudio Pavilion, Madrid; Le Consulat, Lisbon; Experimento, Madrid; Tal Gallery, Cascais; Foco Gallery, Lisbon; Cookhouse Gallery, London; Punctum, London; Mills Centre Gallery, London; among others.
